As marijuana becomes more legal and more businesses become licensed, this company will only be in higher demand.

They have a range of deals which could see them go far. Supreme Cannabis is definitely a stock to watch. Canadian marijuana supplies will be in high demand as legalization swings into effect. Current projections even state many places may experience a lack of supply. Supreme Cannabis stocks currently have a value of 2. Many marijuana business stocks are already rising as investors look to get involved.

The marijuana industry might be one of the safest to invest in right now. With many marijuana businesses taking advantage of the burgeoning industry, there are plenty of stocks that can help you diversify your portfolio and make a profit. CBD is one of the fastest growing sectors in the industry. But with a growing market means a lot of new competition trying to get a piece of the market. So how do you stand out of the crowd as a CBD company? Well, with online marketing, you can get organic customers coming to your website and buying every day.

There are a number of methods that you can use to grow your CBD business online using digital marketing. In this guide, I am going to teach you how to market your CBD business online and get a steady stream of leads and customers visiting your website every single day. There are a lot of social media platforms, but you should only focus on the biggest ones. There are a ton of marijuana social media networks out there, but some of these can be a waste of time and energy for not that great of an ROI.

Instagram has over million daily active users. That is a lot of people consuming content throughout the day. If you can get your CBD product or business in front of just a tiny fraction of those users, you can explode your business with new customers.

Simply add good content and value to your profile and you will naturally gain followers. You can also use tools to auto-follow and auto-like other users to increases your growth rate. This will get you more followers, but they will be less engaging. A lot of these tools also come with a post scheduler.

This can save you hours of time by scheduling all of your content weeks out. Make sure that every post contains hashtags that are keywords your target customers may be looking at. Some ideal hashtags would be:. Your profile should contain a description of your CBD business and a link to your website where customers can buy your products.

You can now also add hashtags to your profile to be better found in the hashtag search section. Here is a good example of an optimized Instagram profile:. With just 1 retweet by a popular account and some good content, you can reach thousands of targeted people.

It allows you to use up to characters per tweet, that all of your curent followers can like, retweet or comment on. Like Instagram, having a detailed Twitter profile will help you get more organic traffic to your profile and website. Make sure to use relative hashtags on your profile and add your website URL. Explain what your profile is about, what you sell, your brand image or how you can help your followers.

With Twitter, you can use calls to action in your tweets to help grow your following and engagement per tweet. Tell your followers what to do with your tweet to help them become more active. The best way to get targeted followers is to be engaging with your followers.

Reply to their comments. Thank them for sharing. Like their stuff as well. This will help you grow a targeted following who are interested in your CBD products. While Facebook used to be better for marketing your business, its still the largest social media platform and should be one of your focuses when it comes to social media marketing.

Creating a Facebook Page for your business and allowing users to link, share and review your page, can help you rank better in Google as well as increase the traffic to your website from Facebook. Share good and valuable content on your wall every day to grow your following. Join Facebook groups where your target demographic may hang out. Be active in these groups and you will gain a ton of followers to your page or personal profile.

Be sure to add your website link, description, phone number and address to your Facebook page. Invite your friends and tell them to share with their friends. Video converts better than any other medium out there and is becoming a more and more popular way to consume content on the web.

Creating a YouTube channel and growing your following can create a large stream of leads and new customers viewing your channel and website every day. For example, creating really good video reviews of the top CBD oils, pens, or products could bring in thousands of new customers a month.

LinkedIn can be one of the best sources of leads and new customers. Have an optimized profile with your company and links included so that people see your company and what you do there. Connect with other people in the industry, potential clients and industry leaders. Having a secure website is super important for e-commerce websites. Its also now a ranking factor to have an SSL certificate installed on your site.

Meta Titles show Google and other search engines with your pages are about. Your meta titles are really important because this is what searchers see in Google when they are searching. Having good meta titles can make your listing stand out and get a higher click-through-rate, increasing your rankings in Google. Your meta titles should be between 50 and 60 characters and feature the main keywords of the page. Your meta descriptions explain to search engines in more detail, what your page is about.

Meta descriptions should be between 50 and characters long and include main keywords and sub keywords. Add numbers, symbols, and calls to action in your meta descriptions to help them stand out more and increase CTR. Rich Snippets can help your listing stand out more in Google Search.

Resulting in higher click-through rates and better rankings overall. For example, if you sell CBD products online, you can have your prices, ratings, and stock status show up on Google Search. Alt or alternative text tags are HTML tags that are attached to images. Since Google bots cannot see images, alt text tells the spiders what the image is. So name your images using alt tags in a great way to rank better in Google Images and Google Search.

You can also name the actual filename of the image using keywords of the page or image. Having a fast website is not only important for customer retention but its important for SEO too. Google wants its user to have a good user experience so if your site is slow, Google knows, and will give priority to faster sites.

There are hundreds of others CBD companies out there with fast websites that they could use. Make sure your website is as fast as possible. To do this, you need a good server that is optimized for speed.

Your website should be optimized for speed as well. To test your website speed, you can use a number of different tools. The only true way to keep growing the traffic to your website is to keep building content. Whether its blog posts, guides, infographics, videos, or podcasts, you need to be constantly building new content to bring in target users to your website. Each article should be longer than 1, words but I would suggest making them 5, words or 10, words.

These are the type of long-form content that will get you thousands of visitors a month. The point of long-form content is to provide a large amount of information to searchers and prove you are an authority in your niche. It also attracts high-quality backlinks which is the last and most important step of ranking better with search engine optimization. Backlinks are links on other websites that link back to your website or pages.

The more backlinks you have to your CBD website, the better you will ultimately rank in Google. The links you build to your site should be from high-quality sources in your industry or niche.

The best type of backlinks are in-content backlinks from a blog, guide or reference doc. To build these type of links, simply build good content around your niche like CBD and offer up that article to other websites in your niche. Make sure you add a backlink to your website or product pages from the guest post. You can also create skyscraper content which is basically finding the best content out there for a given keyword, writing better content, then reaching out to all of the websites that link to that content and offer them to link to your new better content.

PPC or pay per click advertising is becoming more and more popular now that marijuana and CBD are both becoming more legal in most states. While its against most advertisers terms of service to advertise for marijuana or marijuana-related products, its still possible to get around these. There are ways to have Google approve ads related to marijuana or CBD.

Make sure you stay away from keywords like CBD or marijuana and sometimes you can get passed their review system. If you get approved, keep things slow but slowly increase spend to build up a trusted profile. You will need to create another landing page with a redirect to your site or use another source to send traffic and link to your site.

Facebook can search text easily but its hard to search images for words. Be very discreet in your ad text. You will also need to connect a personal page or a page that is not your CBD business page. You can also use Facebook Lead Ads to build email lists and then email those leads information on your product or service. You can also use other sites that allow this type of advertising. Mantis Ad Network is a display network that allows you to advertise your CBD products on a network of marijuana-related websites like High Times, Cannabis.

You will need to get a designer to create the image ads for you in the specific sizes that Mantis requires. Make sure you track all of your campaigns using Google Analytics so you know whether traffic sources are converting or not. If you are looking to grow your CBD business with digital marketing, simply adhere to the methods above and your website will start growing organically in no time. It will take some time and work to grow your CBD company with these methods, but they are long-term methods that will provide exponential ROI to your business.

If this is the case, I have some good news and some bad news for you. You can tell Google Ads results by the little green ad label next to a listing. They show before organic results and sometimes on the right side depending on which device you are searching on. Google Ads were on an auction-based system. You bid a set amount on where you want to show up among competitors if any.

But Google also looks at a number of other factors like the click-through-rate of the ad, the landing page experience, and the ad text relevance. If your ad has a good click-through-rate for certain keywords, your ad will show more with a reduced cost per click because Google thinks its a good ad and is providing a good experience to their users.

Here is a simple graphical explanation of how it works, from Wordstream:. There are many other factors and inner workings of the Google Ads system but this is basically how it works. But how much does it cost to advertise on Google Adwords? Well, it can range but if you have keywords with a lot of competition, you can pay a hefty price per click.

Depending on the competition, niche, service and cost of the product, the CPC can vary widely. Which states that recreational drugs are not allowed to be advertised for on Google Search or Display.

This means using keywords like:. You have to be somewhat careful what you choose as the algorithm has certain words that it automatically finds and disapproves your ad. As with the ad headline and text, you will want to be careful when choosing the right keywords to advertise for on Google.

Yes, cannabis is illegal on a federal level in the United States. There have been mixed messages from the current administration regarding how committed the federal government is to enforcing its prohibition of cannabis, and each time President Trump or Attorney General Sessions makes a declaration of some sort the whole industry lurches forward with hope or backward in fear.

Recent developments only enforce that view. What types of companies would stand to benefit the most from a relaxation of the federal prohibition? A rising tide would likely lift most all of the boats in the cannabis industry, but some companies may be in a better position to profit than others.

In a development that greatly impacted trading in the cannabis market, Tilray announced that it received permission from the US government to import cannabinoid capsules from Canada for a clinical trial run by researchers at the University of California San Diego. This is a historic breakthrough, as the federal government has previously limited cannabis available for research to its own small supply of cannabis, grown in a single facility in Mississippi and offering questionable value for researchers.

Were the federal government to open up the supply lines for scientific research, the industry might be able to advance cannabis as medicine much more quickly and efficiently after years of being handicapped by restrictive regulations. Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton, in an interview with CNN , waxed optimistic about the near term potential for the federal government, even under Republican rule, to recognize the rights of individual states to make cannabis legal.

The statistics keep building: Voters in Missouri and Utah will decide on medical legalization this year, and those in Michigan and North Dakota will vote on adult-use legalization. Canada is the pioneer of the cannabis industry, providing companies a regulated environment for the legal development and sale of cannabis and related products. Canadian companies are perfecting their game domestically while making inroads in Europe and South America, where legalization is taking hold but production lags.

Rubicon Organics is taking a slightly different approach. Rather than wait for the Canadian license, the company has established operations in both California and Washington to get a head start on branding and sales in the United States. The company intends to marry its US-based brands with its pending Canadian organic production to create an international powerhouse. By leveraging the trend-setting Southern California vibe of its Supply Co.

If one were to choose a location to start an iconic cannabis brand, the most logical place would likely be Los Angeles. Companies have been capitalizing on the SoCal lifestyle for decades, and the approach makes even more sense in relation to cannabis.

So Rubicon is saturating the LA market with its products, intending to create a deep and sustainable brand that it can parlay into other markets as they open up. With Rubicon set to capitalize on two of those three, while adding in the organic component, the company appears to be smartly preparing for the potential lifting of the US prohibition of cannabis. Keep an eye out as the policy situation continues to play out, and Rubicon hits the public markets in the near term.

The post The Cracks are Showing in the U. It is a high-quality and sustainable omega fatty acid alternative ingredient. The cannabis industry is heating up with the legalization of medical and recreational cannabis across Canada and a growing number of states.

Absorption is one of the most important differentiators for both medical and recreational cannabis products. Medical cannabis patients want to receive a standardized dose and consistent effect each time, while recreational consumers want to experience a high as quickly as possible. LXX has developed an innovative drug delivery platform that increases intestinal absorption rates, rapidly delivers active ingredients to the bloodstream, and provides taste-masking benefits.

Many cannabis companies plan to launch cannabis-infused products over the coming year. In fact, the alcohol industry has been so concerned about the potential for these products that giants like Constellation Brands Inc. TAP have made significant investments.

With the race to develop alternative cannabis products, many cannabis companies have a choice between developing internal delivery platforms or partnering with experts to develop top-performing products. Internal develop involves a high cost and potentially lengthy delays but provides flexibility, while partnerships can provide speed to market and a known solution at a predetermined cost.

The technology also represents an alternative to sugars and chemicals that are often used to mask flavors. Lexaria was one of the first to offer these solutions to the cannabis industry. The company has already licensed its products to numerous cannabis companies. By combining cannabinoids with fatty acid oil, applying food carrier particles, and performing a dehydration procedure, the technology masks the earthy taste of cannabis and delivers it more effectively.

Lexaria is one of very few companies anywhere in the world to have completed human clinical studies related to cannabinoids and have proven that its technology is effective. In an in-vivo animal study, researchers delivered DehydraTECH powered nicotine in an edible form into blood plasma in just minutes after dosing with Lexaria is one of the only companies in the world with technology proven effective in both the nicotine and cannabis industries.

Management plans to develop the patent portfolio into to patent applications around the world within two years. Investors interested in capitalizing on the burgeoning cannabis industry along with additional potential across other multi-billion dollar markets may want to take a closer look at the company ahead of further partnerships and announcements.

Nine Steps to Prepare for Electricity Deregulation.

Discusses the prospects of electricity deregulation and highlights nine steps school districts can take to reassess and update their plans for maximizing the benefits of deregulation.

Suggestions include forming an energy management team, seeking discounts and rate incentives, getting involved in competitive user groups, and aggressively seeking…. Many effects of the non-psychoactive cannabinoid, cannabidiol CBD , have been described in immune responses induced by strong immunological stimuli.

The fabrication of cellulose-spider silk bio-nanocomposites comprised of cellulose nanocrystals CNCs and recombinant spider silk protein fused to a cellulose binding domain CBD is described. The silk- CBD sponges exhibit improved thermal and structural characteristics in comparison to control recombinant spider silk sponges. The glass transition temperature Tg of the silk- CBD sponge was higher than the control silk sponge and similar to native dragline spider silk fibers.

Gel filtration analysis, dynamic light scattering DLS , small angle X-ray scattering SAXS and cryo-transmission electron microscopy TEM indicated that silk- CBD , but not the recombinant silk control, formed a nematic liquid crystalline phase similar to that observed in native spider silk during the silk spinning process.

Silk- CBD microfibrils spontaneously formed in solution upon ultrasonication. We suggest a model for silk- CBD assembly that implicates CBD in the central role of driving the dimerization of spider silk monomers, a process essential to the molecular assembly of spider-silk nanofibers and silk-CNC composites.

CBD in Daily Practice: From the time Sativex THC: CBD oromucosal spray first became available in European Union countries in for the management of treatment-resistant multiple sclerosis MS spasticity, data from daily practice have been collected through various projects. A retrospective registry study and a prospective safety study of THC: CBD oromucosal spray are reported. The most recent analysis of a retrospective registry established in the United Kingdom UK , Germany and Switzerland, which collected safety data on more than patients, has indicated a positive risk-benefit profile for THC: CBD oromucosal spray during long-term use.

No new safety concerns were identified, and adverse events of special interest for a cannabis-based medicine were limited. The UK registry has since been closed but remains open in Germany and Switzerland. A prospective safety study undertaken in Spain involved patients from 13 specialized MS centres who had been prescribed THC: The homogeneity between these observational studies supports the interest in THC: CBD oromucosal spray for management of MS spasticity in daily practice.

Consequently, the stimulation of the Hh pathway constitutes a potential therapeutic strategy to treat diverse human disorders, including severe tissue injuries; diabetes mellitus; and brain, skin, and cardiovascular disorders. In counterbalance, a deregulation of the Hh signaling network might lead to major tissular disorders and the development of a wide variety of aggressive and metastatic cancers. Therefore, the molecular targeting of distinct deregulated gene products, including Hh and EGFR signaling components and other signaling elements that are frequently deregulated in highly tumorigenic cancer-initiating cells and their progenies, might constitute a potential therapeutic strategy to eradicate the total cancer cell mass.

Background Significant interest has emerged in the therapeutic and interactive effects of different cannabinoids. Cannabidiol CBD has been shown to have anxiolytic and antipsychotic effects with high doses administered orally. Conclusions While THC administration by vaporisation is increasingly adopted in experimental studies, often with oral predosing with CBD to examine interactive effects, no studies to date have reported the administration of CBD by vaporisation.

We report the detailed methodology aimed at optimising the efficiency of delivery of therapeutic doses of CBD , alone and in combination with THC, by vaporisation. These protocols provide a technical advance that may inform methodology for clinical trials in humans, especially for examining interactions between THC and CBD and for therapeutic applications of CBD.

Significant interest has emerged in the therapeutic and interactive effects of different cannabinoids. Six confirmatory studies examined the quantity of each compound delivered when mg or 4 mg CBD was loaded together with 8 mg of THC.

We describe optimised protocols that enable delivery of mg CBD through vaporisation. While THC administration by vaporisation is increasingly adopted in experimental studies, often with oral predosing with CBD to examine interactive effects, no studies to date have reported the administration of CBD by vaporisation. Use of pneumatic lithotripsy for managing difficult CBD calculi. The treatment of gallbladder calculi has standardized in the form of laparoscopic cholecystectomy but management of CBD calculi is still evolving.

Traditionally, laparoscopically one can achieve success rate comparable to endoscopic surgery but large and impacted calculi may cause failures. This study evaluates the feasibility of using pneumatic lithotripsy for CBD calculi. To our knowledge this is the 1st reported series of using pneumatic lithotripsy for CBD calculi. Pneumatic lithotripsy being user friendly easily available can reliably fragment CBD calculi in one session.

Although it is known that these hydrophobic compounds can be transported in blood by albumin or lipoproteins, the intracellular carrier has not been identified.

Recent reports suggest that CBD and THC elevate the levels of the endocannabinoid anandamide AEA when administered to humans, suggesting that phytocannabinoids target cellular proteins involved in endocannabinoid clearance. Using computational molecular docking and site-directed mutagenesis we identify key residues within the active site of FAAH that confer the species-specific sensitivity to inhibition by CBD. Competition for FABPs may in part or wholly explain the increased circulating levels of endocannabinoids reported after consumption of cannabinoids.

These data shed light on the mechanism of action of CBD in modulating the endocannabinoid tone in vivo and may explain, in part, its reported efficacy toward epilepsy and other neurological disorders. Several publications have suggested increasing cannabis potency over the last decade, which, together with lower amounts of cannabidiol CBD , could contribute to an increase in adverse effects after cannabis smoking.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between THC- and CBD concentrations in blood samples among cannabis users, and to compare cannabinoid concentrations with the outcome of a clinical test of impairment CTI and between traffic accidents and non-accident driving under the influence of drugs DUID -cases. Seizure sample analysis did not reveal high potency cannabis products, and while CBD content appeared high in hashish, it was almost absent in marijuana.

Should antibacterials be deregulated? Deregulation of antibacterials is a recurrent topic in the debate on pharmaceutical policy. This article focuses on one aspect of pharmaceutical regulation, namely the requirement of a medical prescription for purchasing antibacterials.

However, a strategy of deregulation should not only concern the switch from prescription-only status to nonprescription status for a given drug, but should consider some complementary measures to minimise potentially harmful effects on health and costs.

Risk-benefit and economic evaluations, which are possible approaches to assess the convenience of antibacterial deregulation , force the empirical evidence, the assumptions, as well as the value judgements on which the options are evaluated, to be made explicit. We outline the basic traits of an economic-evaluation approach to assess the issues related to the public interest and the feasibility of a deregulation policy.

However, the answer cannot be a generic one, but should address the question for each particular country, and for each antibacterial and indication. Given the limitations of existing evidence on that issue, a tentative research agenda is also proposed. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma ALCL is divided into two systemic diseases according to the expression of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase ALK.

The data were validated in primary ALCL cases. CBD spray and MS spasticity symptoms: A randomized, placebo controlled long-term follow-up clinical trial with THC: CBD spray versus placebo demonstrated that it was not associated with cognitive decline, depression or significant mood changes after 12 months of treatment.

CBD oromucosal spray did not adversely influence standard driving ability in patients with moderate to severe MS spasticity. Other new long term observational data about the use of THC: Findings to date reinforce the efficacy and safety observed in Phase III clinical trials. It is of interest that in practice average dosages used by patients tended to be lower than those reported in clinical studies Thus, these new data support a positive benefit-risk relationship for THC: CBD oromucosal spray during longer-term use.

Airline Deregulation and Public Policy. An assessment of the effects of airline deregulation on travelers and carriers indicates that deregulation has provided travelers and carriers with Airport congestion, airline safety, airline bankruptcy, and mergers are also analyzed and found in most cases to have reduced benefits.

But, these costs should not be attributed to deregulation per se, but to failures by the government to pursue appropriate policies in these areas. Pursuit of policies that promote airline competition and efficient use of airport capacity would significantly increase the benefits from deregulation and would provide valuable guidance for other industries undergoing the transition to deregulation.

The report presents an evaluation of the impacts associated with the implementation of fare-free transit service in the Central Business District CBD of Albany, New York. The Albany demonstration began in November ; fares were eliminated for tr Laparoscopic CBD exploration using a V-shaped choledochotomy.

The advantages of this technique are that it is less invasive than conventional open surgery and it permits single-stage management; however, other technical difficulties limit its use. After the confluence of the cystic duct and the CBD were exposed, a V-shaped incision was made along the medial wall of the cystic duct and the lateral wall of the common hepatic duct, which comprise two sides of Calot's triangle. The choledochoscope was inserted into the lumen of the CBD through a V-shaped incision, and all CBD stones were retrieved using a basket or a Fogarty balloon catheter or were irrigated with saline.

After CBD clearance was confirmed using the choledochoscope, the choledochotomy was closed with the bard absorbable suture material known as V-loc. The mean operative time was All patients recovered without any postoperative complications, except for one patient who developed postoperative pancreatitis. No conversions to laparotomy were observed, and there were no recurrent stones and no need of T-tube insertion. This report suggests that our novel technique, known as V- CBD , may represent a feasible and straightforward procedure for treating choledocholithiasis, especially when the CBD is not dilated.

Corticobasal degeneration with olivopontocerebellar atrophy and TDP pathology: CBD is a disorder affecting cognition and movement due to a progressive neurodegeneration associated with distinctive neuropathologic features, including abnormal phosphorylated tau protein in neurons and glia in cortex, basal ganglia, diencephalon and brainstem, as well as ballooned neurons and astrocytic plaques.

Two patients had clinical features suggestive of progressive supranuclear palsy PSP , and the third case had cerebellar ataxia thought to be due to idiopathic OPCA.

Corticobasal degeneration CBD is a disorder affecting cognition and movement due to a progressive neurodegeneration associated with distinctive neuropathologic features, including abnormal phosphorylated tau protein in neurons and glia in cortex, basal ganglia, diencephalon, and brainstem, as well as ballooned neurons and astrocytic plaques. CBD oromucosal spray in routine clinical practice.

Web-based real-time data collection techniques are combined with traditional patients' diaries to capture a wide spectrum of outcomes associated with this innovative cannabis-based medication. In the Italian cohort, THC: CBD oromucosal spray was added mainly to oral baclofen. Similar to MOVE 2-Germany, during 3 months' observation, treatment discontinuations were limited and patients recorded meaningful improvements on the patient-based numerical rating scale and physician-rated modified Ashworth scale at mean daily doses that were about one-third lower than those used in the RCT.

CBD oromucosal spray within the context of daily management of our patients with MS spasticity. The grazing incidence x-ray diffraction analysis shows all the fabricated CdS films are hexagonally crystallized. T-tube is a major procedure that prevents complication by biliary decompression, but which is accompanied by complications. Therefore, several procedures such as ENBD, PTBD, and antegrade biliary stent have been attempted, but with controversies as to which procedure is superior.

Also, there are no standard procedures after laparoscopic CBD exploration. We performed this study to ascertain the most appropriate biliary drainage procedure after laparoscopic CBD exploration. From March to December , patients who underwent Laparoscopic CBD exploration in Gunyang University were included for retrospective analysis.

The patients were divided to 4 groups according to type of procedure, and we compared clinical parameters including age and gender, operation time, hospital stay, start of post-operative diet, and complications. There was no difference in age, gender, mean operation time, postoperative diet between the 4 groups.

Hospital stay in the Stent group was shorter than T-tube group. There were more complications in Stent group but no significant statistical difference. One T-tube case was removed easily by choledochoscopy through the T-tube.

Three migrated and the impacted stents were removed by additional endoscopy. Perioperative biliary leakage 1 and peritonitis 1 post t-tube removal were resolved by conservative treatment. T-tube appears to be an appropriate method to patients who are suspected to have remnant CBD stones. Multiple procedures may be performed on a case by case basis such as performing PTBD first in a suspected cholangitis patient. Impact of enzymatic and alkaline hydrolysis on CBD concentration in urine.

A sensitive and specific analytical method for cannabidiol CBD in urine was needed to define urinary CBD pharmacokinetics after controlled CBD administration, and to confirm compliance with CBD medications including Sativex-a cannabis plant extract containing 1: Non-psychoactive CBD has a wide range of therapeutic applications and may also influence psychotropic smoked cannabis effects.

Solid-phase extraction isolated and concentrated analytes prior to GC-MS. Enzyme-hydrolyzed urine specimens exhibited more than a fold CBD concentration increase compared to alkaline and non-hydrolyzed specimens. This method can be applied for urinary CBD quantification and further pharmacokinetics characterization following controlled CBD administration. A sensitive and specific analytical method for cannabidiol CBD in urine was needed to define urinary CBD pharmacokinetics after controlled CBD administration, and to confirm compliance with CBD medications including Sativex—a cannabis plant extract containing 1: GW Pharmaceuticals is undertaking a major research programme in the UK to develop and market distinct cannabis-based prescription medicines [THC: The cannabis for this programme is grown in a secret location in the UK.

It is expected that the product will be marketed in the US in late The company is investigating their use in three delivery systems, including sublingual spray, sublingual tablet and inhaled but not smoked dosage forms. The technology is protected by patent applications. GW is also developing a specialist security technology that will be incorporated in all its drug delivery systems.

This technology allows for the recording and remote monitoring of patient usage to prevent any potential abuse of its cannabis-based medicines. GW plans to enter into agreements with other companies following phase III development, to secure the best commercialisation terms for its cannabis-based medicines.

The drug will be marketed under the Sativex brand name. This agreement also provides Bayer with an option to expand their license to include the European Union and certain world markets. GW was granted a clinical trial exemption certificate by the Medicines Control Agency to conduct clinical studies with cannabis-based medicines in the UK. The exemption includes investigations in the relief of pain of neurological origin and defects of neurological function in the following indications: Therefore we investigated, in Wistar rats, effects of pulmonary, oral and subcutaneous sc.

While cannabinoid serum and brain levels rapidly peaked and diminished after pulmonary administration, sc. In contrast, oral CBD produced mild hyperlocomotion. In conclusion, oral administration yielded the most pronounced behavioural effects which corresponded to the highest brain levels of cannabinoids.

Of central importance was the novel finding that THC can be detected in serum and brain after administration of CBD alone which, if confirmed in humans and given the increasing medical use of CBD -only products, might have important legal and forensic ramifications. This method also involved the optimization of cannabinoids and their metabolites extraction in order to remove co-eluting phospholipids and increase the sensitivity of the MS detection.

After oral administration, the amount of CBD dissolved in olive oil was higher than that absorbed from an ethanolic solution. This could be explained by the protection of lipid excipients towards CBD from acidic gastric juice. Laparoscopic management of CBD stones: Common bile duct stones CBDS that are seen in the Asian population are very different from those seen in the west. It is not infrequent to see multiple, large, and impacted stones and a hugely dilated CBD.

Many of these patients have been managed by open CBD exploration OCBDE , even after the advent of laparoscopic cholecystectomy LC , because these large stones pose significant challenges for extraction by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

This series presents the largest experience of managing CBDS using a laparoscopic approach from Indian subcontinent. Between and , patients with documented CBDS were treated laparoscopically at a tertiary care hospital in New Delhi. Of these, 4 patients were managed through transcystic route and through the transcholedochal route. There were 34 men and women patients with age ranging from 15 to 72 years.

The mean size of the CBD on ultrasound was The number of stones extracted varied from 1 to 70 and the size of the extracted stones from 5 to 30 mm.

The average duration of surgery was There were 6 conversions to open procedures, 1 postoperative death 0. Early Radio Policy Reconsidered. A comparison of the performance of male and female CBD distributors in Peru. This report presents the results of an operations research project to increase male involvement in family planning in Peru.

Both programs found it harder to recruit men than women as distributors. Program supervisors, who were women, were less comfortable with men than with other women, even though there were no differences in distributor compliance with program norms. Male distributors were more likely to serve male clients and sell male methods condoms , while female distributors were more likely to serve female clients and sell female methods pills.

Men sold as much or more total couple-years of protection than did women, and they recruited as many or more new acceptors. Gender was found to exert an impact on method mix independent of other distributor characteristics, such as age, education, marital status, and number of living children.

The study suggests that family planning programs can influence method mix and client characteristics by recruiting men as CBD distributors. Thapa, Dinesh; Cairns, Elizabeth A.

Cannabinoids could be a novel clinical therapy for corneal pain and inflammation resulting from ocular surface injury. Neuronal Dysfunction Associated with Cholesterol Deregulation.

Cholesterol metabolism is crucial for cells and, in particular, its biosynthesis in the central nervous system occurs in situ, and its deregulation involves morphological changes that cause functional variations and trigger programmed cell death.

The pathogenesis of rare diseases, such as Mevalonate Kinase Deficiency or Smith—Lemli—Opitz Syndrome, arises due to enzymatic defects in the cholesterol metabolic pathways, resulting in a shortage of downstream products.

The most severe clinical manifestations of these diseases appear as neurological defects. Expanding the knowledge of this biological mechanism will be useful for identifying potential targets and preventing neuronal damage. Several studies have demonstrated that deregulation of the cholesterol pathway induces mitochondrial dysfunction as the result of respiratory chain damage. We set out to determine whether mitochondrial damage may be prevented by using protective mitochondria-targeted compounds, such as MitoQ, in a neuronal cell line treated with a statin to induce a biochemical block of the cholesterol pathway.

Evidence from the literature suggests that mitochondria play a crucial role in the apoptotic mechanism secondary to blocking the cholesterol pathway. Our study shows that MitoQ, administered as a preventive agent, could counteract the cell damage induced by statins in the early stages, but its protective role fades over time. Pretangles and neurofibrillary changes: Pretangles are cytoplasmic tau immunoreactivity in neurons without apparent formation of fibrillary structures.

In Alzheimer disease, such tau deposition is considered to represent a premature state prior to fibril formation AD-pretangles , later to form neurofibrillary tangles and finally ghost tangles. This morphological evolution from pretangles to ghost tangles is in parallel with their profile shift from four repeat 4R tau-positive pretangles to three repeat 3R tau-positive ghost tangles with both positive neurofibrillary tangles in between.

This complementary shift of tau profile from 4R to 3R suggests that these tau epitopes are represented interchangeably along tangle evolution. Similar tau immunoreactivity without fibril formation is also observed in corticobasal degeneration CBD -pretangles. CBD -pretangles and AD-pretangles share: However, CBD -pretangles neither evolve into ghost tangles nor exhibit 3R tau immunoreactivity even at the advanced stage.

Because electron microscopic studies on these pretangles are quite limited, it remains to be clarified whether such differences in later evolution are related to their primary ultrastructures, potentially distinct between AD and CBD. As double staining for 3R and 4R tau clarified complementary shift from 4R to 3R tau along evolution from pretangles to ghost tangles, double immunoelectron microscopy, if possible, may clarify similar profile shifts in relation to each tau fibril at the ultrastructural dimension.

This will provide a unique viewpoint on how molecular epitope representations are related to pathogenesis of fibrillary components. Review of Literature and Case Report. Cortico basal degeneration CBD of the brain is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disease which encompasses unique neuropsychiatric manifestations. Early diagnosis is essential for initiating proper treatment and favorable outcome. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation TMS , a well-known technique for assessment of cortical excitatory and inhibitory properties.

It was suggested that in a degenerative disease like CBD which involves the cortex as well as the subcortical structures, comparing both hemispheres, a differential pattern in TMS can be obtained which would help in early identification, prognostication and early therapeutic intervention. We describe a case of CBD with corroborative clinical and imaging picture wherein single pulse TMS was used over both the hemispheres measuring the following parameters of interest which included: Differential patterns of MT, CMCT and SP was obtained by stimulating over both the hemispheres with the affected hemisphere showing significantly reduced MT and prolonged CMCT implying early impairment of cortical and subcortical structures thereby revealing the potential application of TMS being utilized in a novel way for early detection and prognostication in CBD syndromes.

Implications for Community College Leaders. Clinical experience with THC: CBD oromucosal spray in patients with multiple sclerosis-related spasticity.

Over a month timeframe, THC: CBD spray was initiated in patients. Mean follow-up was 9 months. CBD spray was used as add-on therapy in 95 patients and as monotherapy in 25 patients to achieve best-possible therapeutic results. CBD spray for less than 60 days. Main reasons for treatment discontinuation were: No new safety signals were noted with THC: CBD spray during the evaluation period.

CBD spray was effective and well tolerated as add-on therapy or as monotherapy in a relevant proportion of patients with resistant MS spasticity. Cholecystectomy improves long-term success after endoscopic treatment of CBD stones.

The aim was to study prospectively primary endoscopic treatment of CBD stones and further the long-term need for renewed gallstone disease interventions, defined as short- and long-term outcome.

Seven years prospective follow-up of consecutive patients with CBD stones who underwent endoscopic treatment with the intent of primarily achieving duct clearance. Eleven patients were treated surgically, 2 patients received a permanent stent, and the remaining 3 became stone free with other means. Complications occurred in 47 patients. During follow-up, 31 patients were readmitted for gallstone disease and 15 of these had recurrent CBD stones.

Risk factors for new gallstone disease were an in situ gallbladder containing stones and previous episodes of CBD stones. Subsequent cholecystectomy after duct clearance for CBD should be advised when the gallbladder lodges gallstones, especially in younger patients. Recurrent CBD stones were not influenced by cholecystectomy.

A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial. Research in both animals and humans indicates that cannabidiol CBD has antipsychotic properties. The authors assessed the safety and effectiveness of CBD in patients with schizophrenia. In an exploratory double-blind parallel-group trial, patients with schizophrenia were randomized in a 1: These findings suggest that CBD has beneficial effects in patients with schizophrenia.

As CBD 's effects do not appear to depend on dopamine receptor antagonism, this agent may represent a new class of treatment for the disorder. MYC regulates a complex biological program by transcriptionally activating and repressing its numerous target genes.

As such, MYC is a master regulator of many processes, including cell cycle entry, ribosome biogenesis, and metabolism. In cancer, the activity of the MYC transcriptional network is frequently deregulated , contributing to the initiation and maintenance of disease. Deregulation often leads to constitutive overexpression of MYC, which can be achieved through gross genetic abnormalities, including copy number alterations, chromosomal translocations, increased enhancer activity, or through aberrant signal transduction leading to increased MYC transcription or increased MYC mRNA and protein stability.

Herein, we summarize the frequency and modes of MYC deregulation and describe both well-established and more recent findings in a variety of cancer types. Notably, these studies have highlighted that with an increased appreciation for the basic mechanisms deregulating MYC in cancer, new therapeutic vulnerabilities can be discovered and potentially exploited for the inhibition of this potent oncogene in cancer.

Cannabinoid receptors in the brain CB 1 take part in modulation of learning, and are particularly important for working and short-term memory. Here, we employed a delayed-matching-to-place DMTP task in the open-field water maze and examined the effects of cannabis plant extracts rich in either Delta 9 -tetrahydrocannabinol Delta 9 -THC , or rich in cannabidiol CBD , on spatial working and short-term memory formation in rats.

Delta 9 -THC-rich extracts impaired performance in the memory trial trial 2 of the DMTP task in a dose-dependent but delay-independent manner. Cannabidiol CBD is a plant-derived cannabinoid that has been predominantly characterized as anti-inflammatory. However, it is clear that immune effects of cannabinoids can vary with cannabinoid concentration, or type or magnitude of immune stimulus. The enhanced inflammatory cell infiltrate as observed in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid BALF was comprised mainly of neutrophils, with some monocytes.

These results demonstrate that the CBD -mediated enhancement of LPS-induced pulmonary inflammation is mediated at the level of transcription of a variety of pro-inflammatory genes. The significance of these studies is that CBD is part of a therapeutic currently in use for spasticity and pain in multiple sclerosis patients, and therefore it is important to further understand mechanisms by which CBD alters immune function.

CBD oromucosal spray and others? The complexity of the endocannabinoid eCB system is becoming better understood and new drivers of eCB signaling are emerging. Modulation of the activities of the eCB system can be therapeutic in a number of diseases. Research into the eCB system has been paralleled by the development of agents that interact with cannabinoid receptors. In this regard it should be remembered that herbal cannabis contains a myriad of active ingredients, and the individual cannabinoids have quite distinct biological activities requiring independent studies.

Clinical trials have confirmed its efficacy and tolerability. Other diseases in which different cannabinoids are currently being investigated include various pain states, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and epilepsy.

The continued characterization of individual cannabinoids in different diseases remains important. Cu doping concentration effect on the physical properties of CdS thin films obtained by the CBD technique.

Most traditional fabrication methods involve expensive vacuum processes including co-evaporation and sputtering techniques, where films and doping are conducted separately. On the other hand, the chemical bath deposition CBD technique allows an in situ process. Cu-doped CdS thin films working as a buffer layer on solar cells provide good performing devices and they may be deposited by low cost techniques such as chemical methods.

The elemental analysis and mapping reconstruction were conducted by EDXS. Morphological, optical and electrical properties were studied, and they revealed that Cu doping modified the CdS structure, band-gap value and the electrical properties. Cu-doped CdS films show high resistivity compared to the non-doped CdS. Cannabidiol CBD , a Cannabis derivative devoid of psychomimetic effects, has attracted much attention because of its promising neuroprotective properties in rat AD models, even though the mechanism responsible for such actions remains unknown.

All these findings report the inescapable role of this receptor in mediating CBD actions, here reported.
